IM: FAST sketches -01

What: Sketch dump #01. Inspired by Iron Man 2 the novel.
From the top left:
1. Tony in armour, no helmet - looks weirdish, a bit too mangaish. But gotta love the pouty expression.
2. Rhodey. First time ever drawing him, huh.
3. Tony's gorgeous car exploding after being Whiplashed.
4. Natasha's eyes.
5. Mark IV landing @ Stark EXPO. Weird breastplate shading makes it look as if it had a bra on. >.>

8. Pepper. She looks more like an android than any of Jarvis pics I've ever made. Still better than the previous version which made her look like Howard Stark sans moustache.

11. Jarvis the android. Not in the movie/novel, but I just wanted to draw him.
12. Was supposed to be Jarvis as well, but it looks more like some random fellow because I made his eyes too big. Oh well.


How: Mechanical pencils 0.35mm HB & B

Comments: Watching Iron Man2 the movie made me want to see Iron Man 2 the novel in a comic form. It has stronger plot, better characterization of major characters and approximately 1000 times more Jarvis. And who's going to waste their time drawing a comic based on a novel if not me?
I'm not sure if I'll ever manage to draw even a few pages, but even attempting to do so might be an enlightening experience. First and foremost, it would force me to find a consistent style, learn to draw characters I hate drawing, improve my drawing skills overall...

So here's the first step: trying to find a style that would be the most comfortable for me. The characters must be recognizable, yet I can't spend too much time drawing them. Time, time, time is of the greatest consequence!
A few more pages like this one and I should be able to move to the next step: making my style more consistent. And then figuring out the lineart and colouring.
